Located in the middle of beautiful downtown Spartanburg is the Wild Wing Café. On Sunday nights this restaurant/bar has a shag DJ spinning the tunes upstairs for the local shag clubs. Free dance lessons with Steve & Kathy are from 6-7 pm. About 20 couples participate on any given night. After the lessons the 12’ x 20’ wooden dance floor fills with shaggers from 7-10. Tables are removed from in front of the band stand for shagging and line dancing. Powder is provided but be careful because the floor is a little sticky from the college dancers from the previous evening. Full menu available with 33 flavors of wings. For those South Carolina natives - you might want to note that alcohol is available on Sunday here. Smoking is allowed inside but with the high ceilings, it’s not too noticeable. While people are dining downstairs, many people of all ages -around 200- are dining upstairs too and enjoying the atmosphere, the food, and the music. There is plenty of seating inside this fun establishment. And you can also sit on the balcony overlooking the well kept downtown area. Parking is limited as it is street parking only. Members of the R & B Shag Club of Spartanburg as well as those from other surrounding areas like Shelby, Rutherford, and Greenville hang out there too.

A really neat place to shag.  Despite the condition of the floor - dancers were having a great time.
