Only 35 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, the birthplace of Pepsi, New Bern, NC is the home of the Twin Rivers Shag Club, named for the two rivers, the Neuse and the Trent, that converge here. Twin Rivers Shag club can be found shagging at Attitudes Pub & Grille, 32 Shoreline Dr., on Sundays at 7:00pm. The club meeting is on the second Sunday at 6:30pm. Starting in March of 2008, the club will begin meeting at 4pm instead of 7pm. A $3 cover charge gets you in for some good music at Attitudes with rotating shag/beach music DJs. On an average evening the crowd ranges from 10 - 50 members of the 129 member club arriving to dine from the full menu at Attitudes, and spend a couple of hours dancing with friends. The club used to meet at a place called the Oar House at the Marina, but like many other clubs, their venue was lost to progress. Fortunately they have found a new home with a large wood 14’ x 20’ dance floor that’s in a separate area of the main bar, complete with DJ booth and a big screen TV for watching the race or the game. The club also has other special events throughout the year, such as the Annual “Oar House Reunion”. Being close to the coast, this club also has the opportunity to dance at Memories at Atlantic Beach.
