Step into Legacies Restaurant & Bar on Tuesday nights and you will be met by the sound of shag music and by the friendly members of the Sumter Shag Club. Every Tuesday night the tables are cleared off one end of the elevated dining area to expose a 26’ x 20’ wooden dance floor area just in front of the DJ booth. Brett Bishop plays the music for the shaggers from 7:30-11:00 and is happy to play your requests. You can choose from a full menu while you sit at a table overlooking the dance floor. You may even get to see a few of the Hall of Famers out for the evening.
There is no cover to come in, and there are lots of non shagging patrons enjoying the food and the music. There is plenty of parking and seating in this establishment. Smoking is allowed. Expect around 40 dancers on the slower summer evenings and around 60-100 on the busiest nights. Line dancers are welcome too. This club also sponsors various monthly parties, see calendar for upcoming events. Shag lessons are taught by Betty Kane.
