Named for one of the standard shag mirror steps, The Sugarfoot Shag Club makes its home in Goldsboro, NC. This club of 167 members has a social dance usually once a month and dance the 1st and 3rd Fridays at  the Elk’s Lodge, 105 E Chestnutt St. They also have two yearly events at Memories Beach Club in Atlantic Beach called Memorial Madness Fundraiser and the Labor Day Layover. In addition to these, they also have a Shag -o- ween party with sister shag clubs, Eastern NC Shag Club and Johnston County Area Shag Club. Although they don’t have a weekly venue to dance, they are within an hours drive of Atlantic Beach, Raleigh, New Bern and other areas to shag. Shag lessons are taught by Larry Patterson and Shirley Weaver on Sundays from 5pm-7pm at 620 N Madison Ave.
