The South Strand Shag Club meets every Saturday night from 8-12 at the VFW at 4359 Hwy 17 Bypass in Murrells Inlet. Some evenings they may start at 7:15 if they are offering lessons. There is ample parking and seating at the VFW. The club dances on a 20’ x 25’ dance floor with music provided by one of the local shag DJ s. There is no cover charge. They offer VFW priced drinks at the cash bar, a separate smoking area and door prizes. South Strand usually has around 60 to 80 people in attendance on a Saturday night. The club also has 3 special dances during the year that include a band held at the Blue Marlin Bar & Grill in Garden City.

The shag club members are friendly and make you feel welcome. Their moto is “Come Shag with Us”
