One of the newest locations to go in the
Triangle area of NC is the Sandbar Beach Club located on Hwy 70 in
Clayton, NC.
This club is open
Tuesday through Saturday. Shag lessons are taught here on Tuesday nights
at 7:00pm for beginners and 8:00pm for intermediates. The cost is $40
per month / per person. Wednesday nights are “Girls Night Out” with
ladies getting in free. Thursday nights are Thirsty Thursdays where you might
find some of the Johnston County Area Shag Club members. Friday and
Saturday nights there is either a band or a DJ. On the 3rd
Sunday of the month, the
Johnston County Area Shag Club has their meeting and social at the
Sandbar Beach Club at 5:30pm. The Sandbar Beach Club is a
private club. There is a $15 membership fee. On band nights the
members get in for $8 and their guests for $12. The Sandbar has
a large 24’x 24’ wood dance
floor positioned in front of the bandstand. There is ample seating with
good views of the dance floor/ band area. There is a cash bar with
reasonably priced drinks where you might want to try one of the house
specials - S*x on a Sandbar.
The Sandbar Beach Club is also a supporter of
the Annual Triangle Beach Spring Fling in Garner, NC.
Try out the wood dance floor while listening to one of your favorite bands play some great shag music.
