For 6 years the CSRA Shag Club has been dancing every Friday night at The Safari Lounge at the Quality Inn & Suites in Aiken, SC. The Shag Club DJ starts playing around 8pm and the majority of the crowd comes in to dance around 8:30 to 9:00pm. A usual crowd of 45-60 members will share the 15’ x 18’wood dance floor. The cover to enter the lounge is $3.00. There is a cash bar where you can try some “Liquid Shag - tequila ,OJ, Peach Schnapps and grenadine - Put some pep in your Step!“ Smoking is allowed in the lounge. There are tables available for seating but food isn’t served in the lounge, so grab a bite before you go. Shag lessons are offered at the Lounge on Monday nights. Beginner lessons with Johnny and Judy Turner begin at 7:00pm and intermediate lessons begin at 8:15pm.
The shaggers at the Safari Lounge will not be shy about asking you to dance.
