In the charming historic dowtown district of Abbeville, you’ll find the Side Pocket Lounge in the Rough House. Though known for their hotdogs and their billiards, The Rough House also serves as a venue for shaggers from Abbeville and the surrounding areas such as Greenwood, to enjoy shag lessons on Tuesday nights, shag dancing with a DJ on the fourth Friday of the month and occasional bands. There is no cover charge to dance at the Sidepocket. It’s a non-smoking room with a wood floor and a 17’ x 20’ area used for dancing in front of the DJ/band stage. There is bar table seating around the floor, and food and drinks can be purchased at the bar. The owner Shelly Reid is very accommodating to the shaggers there.

Nice Friday evening location to stroll through the town, grab a “dog”, a cold beverage and dance to some good shag music with some friends.
