This club offers line dance instruction from 7am until 8am and then open dancing until 10pm.  Basic I shag lessons begin on January 29, 2008 at 7pm until 8pm and continue through February, 2008.  The lessons are free, but there is a $3 fee to use the lounge and dance floor.  This money is split between the lounge and the Shag Association DJ"s.

Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway is the valley city of Roanoke where you will find the Roanoke Valley Shag Club. This club is one of the largest in the area with 270 members. Club members can take shag lessons and dance every Tuesday at the Charade’s Lounge at the Wyndham. Additionally, usually one Saturday a month, the Roanoke Valley Shag Club has a dance at one of 4 venues including the Vinton Moose Lodge and the Thunderbird Club. The Vinton Moose, one of the larger venues, has a 32’ x 32’ wood parquet dance floor, with plenty of seating available. The Dance room at the Moose is located at the back of the facility with plenty of parking.

Parties are $10 for members and $12 for guests. Different shag DJs spin the tunes for the parties. At the Moose, it’s BYOB but beer and set-ups are available at a reasonable price. Heavy hors d’oeurvres are provided by the club. Smoking is allowed at this facility.

The Roanoke Valley Shag Club also hosts a 2 day Pig Pickin Party in the summer. Tickets are limited to 200 for this popular party, so get them early before they sell out.
