You’ll find the R & B Shag Club dancing in the Sparkle City at the VFW, 325 Carolina Drive Ext. generally on the 4^th Saturday of the month. The VFW is spacious with a 20’ x 40’ black & white tile floor for dancing and plenty of seating for members and guests in a non smoking environment. A $5 cover charge for guests gets you into the party. Members provide appetizers and snacks and perhaps even homemade ice cream on special occasions. You can get beer for $1.75 and mixed drinks for $3. Several shag DJ s rotate playing at the parties. You’ll find line dances and a 50/50 raffle included in the fun. With a usual crowd of around 200, the dance floor is never empty.

The R & B Shag Club of Spartanburg also dances on the First Saturday of the month at the Marriott on Church St from 8-12 with DJ David O’Quinn and at the Wild Wing Café, downtown Spartanburg on Sunday nights starting with lessons at 6pm and open dancing at 7pm. Their big party of the year is the weekend Sparkle City Celebration in July. They also have a fundraiser in conjunction with the Upstate Shag Club and Wild Wing Café to raise money for St. Luke’s Medical Clinic and Mobile Meals. The club also sponsors a big “beach party at the house” at SOS with live entertainment. You will see many of these members visiting other shag club socials.

This club always has a good turnout. You will enjoy your visit and shag dancing with the R & B Shag Club.
