The Palmetto Shag Club makes it’s home in the capital city of the Palmetto State, South Carolina. One of largest clubs in the state, Palmetto Shag Club has 350 members. Since it’s formation in 1992, the club has hosted one of the most talked about events in the shag world, the weekend event called Southern Comfort. The Palmetto Shag Club hosts this party the first weekend in June each year and averages around 800 tickets sold. This event and the 4 club parties that they host during the year are held at the Jamil Shrine Temple due to the size of the club and the parties. They provide their own wood 40’ x40’ dance floor for the events.

During the week, they dance along with the other Columbia area shaggers at Legends on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and at Jillian’s on Thursdays. They are also treated to bands on Thursdays at Jillians during the winter months and at the Vista After 5 in the summer.

This is a very active club that participates in community activities in addition to their club activities. You will also see them in the yearly SOS parade.
