Take a drive along Virginia Dare Trail to Kill Devil Hills and you will find the Outer Banks Shag Club, oceanside at the Peppercorn Lounge in the Ramada Plaza at Nags Head Beach. The Outer Banks Shag Club meets every Monday night at Peppercorns. The Restaurant opens at 5pm, so you can have a nice meal while overlooking the shore, and then join in on the free shag lesson at 7pm with Shagging Icons Dave & Sharon Jones. Open dancing starts after the lesson with DJ Jack Bohne and DJ Dave Jones rotating the duties. You can expect about 30-35 dancers on an average night.

The lounge has a 12’ x 16’ elevated wood dance floor with tables surrounding it on 2 sides. Most tables have a view of the floor. There is a smoking area at the bar. The Outer Banks Shag Club has lots of visitors in the summertime with many teachers and college students and vacationers coming out on Mondays to learn some new steps. You’ll also meet members here that are also members of River City Shag Club and some of the Virginia Beach/Newport News area shag clubs. The OBX Shag Club also sponsors several big parties a year with New Year’s Eve being promoted as a super party. 

Pleasant surroundings,  and the shag dancing combine together to make this an enjoyable Monday shag night.
