The Oasis Shag Club has returned and with it comes it’s sister club the Society of Tarheel Shaggers. The Oasis Shag club is for Shriners only and the Society of Tarheel Shaggers is for Non-Shriners. These clubs meet together at the Mecklenburg Shrine Club located at 5200 Mecklenburg Shrine Club Rd located just off Harrisburg Rd, near exit 39 @ I-485. These two clubs dance on the 1^st and 3^rd Fridays of each month at the Shrine Club. Lessons are offered at 7pm followed by social dancing until midnight with House DJ Gene Hensley. Admission to the party is $5 per person. A cash bar is available for beer, wine and set-ups and lockers are available for BYOB. This venue is all wood dance floor with plenty of room for shagging and line dancing. Tables are located on one side of the room with plenty of seating available. There is also seating at the bar. Smoking area is available outside. Membership to this club is growing with usually around 100 members in attendance on Friday nights. You’ll see many friendly and familiar faces out on the dance floor.

The Oasis Shag Club and the Oasis Patrol are also sponsors of the Annual Beach Blast held at the Oasis Shrine Temple Auditorium, Charlotte in August and the Happy Daze Blues Boogie Music Festival in March.
