The annual summer concert series began as Pride of Kinston's brainstorm to attract more patrons to downtown Kinston. It has turned into an anticipated series, where crowds numbering in the thousands gather by the banks of the Neuse River to listen and dance to favorite bands. This year's series will feature seven free concerts, with the Band of Oz wrapping up the series. Kinston native Donald Thompson and his band performed a prelude concert April 29, also kicking off the Festival of the Neuse. June 3: Jupiter Jones June 17: Four Knights Band July 1: Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs July 15: The Grass Cats July 29: Carolina Beach Club Aug. 12: The Embers Aug. 26: Band of Oz Cost: Free 252-522-8003 All performed from 6 to 8 p.m. on stage at Pearson Park, corner of Gordon and Mitchell streets

Banner Elk Chamber's Summer Concert in the Park #9 - Billy Scott & The Party Prophets Date: 8/12 - 8/12 Concert starts at 6:30 pm at the stage behind Bank of America on Highway 194. Bring your chairs or blankets and coolers. Food will also be available for purchase at the concert. Raffle tickets can be purchased for prizes as well as for the 50/50 split of the "pot."
