Thoroughbred Lounge is one of the newest happening shag locations in the Charlotte area. Boasting the newest hardwood  dance floor in Charlotte, this location is the home to the newly formed Mt. Island Shag Club.  Dances are held here on Friday nights from 9-2:30, but usually shaggers arrive at 8:00 to 8:30 to start off the party early.  If you get here earlier to eat – the music will be playing and shaggers will be dancing.   The newly installed approx. 24’ x 26’ dance floor doesn’t need any powder, it’s a shaggers “paradise”. There are several shag DJ’s that rotate the Friday night air time. DJ’s are  on site for  the  begun Sunday shag from 3pm – 7pm. A  new outdoor patio is open to guests also. A full menu is available before 8:30, limited menu of sandwiches after 8:30 and munchies are provided on Friday night. Beer is $2.25, mixed drinks are $4. There is plenty of parking and seating and no cover charge. Smoking is allowed in the lounge. Line dances are also included in the line up. Expect about 100 to 150 people on Friday night. Shag Club members Fred and Donna Nickle teach shag lessons on Saturdays at Thoroughbred's, including a Junior class.

Great music and a nice relaxed atmosphere perfect for any shag dancer.
