In the mountains of Virginia, you will find the Lynchburg Area Shag
Club. This club of about 160 members, dances on Friday nights at
Merredith’s Fine Dining, 2323 Memorial Ave., Lynchburg, Virginia.
Merredith’s, currently located in the Plaza shopping center, has a
separate room from the regular dining area with a 30’ x 12’ wooden
dance floor. There is plenty of seating at tables around the dance
floor. DJ “Mad Lad” is the weekly DJ for the club dance. A $5 cover
charge gets you in the door where and friendly members await you.
Food is available in the dining room along with a cash bar. This is
a non-smoking facility but there is a covered patio in front of the
restaurant for smoking. Dancing starts at 7:30 unless they are
offering a free shag lesson at 7pm. Expect around 60 shaggers to
join the fun.
The Lynchburg Shag Club also visits and supports other club and
festival activities in the shagging community. These shaggers are
eager to learn more and be involved in the shag world.
