Travel down coastal Hwy 17 and you will find JB Pivots Beach Club, 1662 Savannah Hwy. You will need to look for the Shoney’s Restaurant to find Pivots tucked behind it next to some other stores. Once inside, it’s pure beach club. Pivots has a 15’ x 45’ wood dance floor built just for shagging. A $5 cover charge gets you in to hear the tunes played by beach/shag favorite DJs. Both the Charleston and The Islanders Shag Clubs call this home. Shag Lessons are available on Tuesday and Thursday nights with open dancing after the classes. Wednesday nights offer line dance lessons. Fridays offer shag lessons for the Juniors before the club opens up for open dancing. Friday nights offer DJ.s or bands for shag nights. This club also sponsors many other shagging events through out the year. An annual Hurricane Party is held in October with live beach music entertainment, an Anniversary party, and numerous vinyl parties are among a few. This club also helps sponsor the Charleston Beach Music Festival in August each year and serves as sponsor for one of the Competive Shaggers Association contests.
