On Wednesday nights, the Savannah Shag Club meets at the Doubles Night Club at the Holiday Inn Midtown on another historic Savannah street - Abercorn.
The Savannah Dance Club also meets at Doubles on Monday nights 6:30 - until.
Doubles Night Club has a wooden 25’ x 26’ wooden floor, surrounded by checkered mirrored tile walls and bar tables with stools. Regular menu from the restaurant is available until 9pm, after that, you can choose from a limited menu of appetizers and sandwiches. Bar prices include $3.25 for beer and $1.50 for a soft drink. Smoke eaters are situated throughout the club. There is no cover charge. Wednesday is a big night with around 100 dancers participating.
The bar opens at 5:30, and shag lessons begin at 7pm. There is open dancing with the house DJ after the lessons are over.
Doubles is a nice, clean, inviting, upscale night club.
