Saturday @ The Shag Shack |
The CSRA Shag Club with it’s 400+ members,
covers the Aiken, North Augusta, SC and Augusta, GA area, which makes it
unique in that it dances in one state on Friday night and another state
on Saturday night. For 6
years the CSRA Shag Club has been dancing every Friday night at The
Safari Lounge at the Quality Inn & Suites in Aiken, SC. The Shag Club DJ
starts playing around 8pm and the majority of the crowd comes in to
dance around 8:30pm to 9:00pm. A usual crowd of 45-60 members will share
the
15’ x 18’ wood dance floor. The cover to enter the lounge is $3.00.
There is a cash bar where you can try some “Liquid Shag - tequila, OJ,
Peach Schnapps and grenadine - "Put some pep in your Step!"
Smoking is allowed in the lounge. There are tables available for seating
but food isn’t served in the lounge, so grab a bite before you go. This
club has a lot of opportunity to take all levels of shag lessons.
Shag lessons are taught on Monday nights at the Safari Lounge, Monday
nights at The Shag Shack and Tuesday nights by Michael Norris.
They won’t be shy about asking you to dance either.
This club also sponsors 5 parties a year with a large weekend
party in March.
