One of the newest shag clubs along the North Carolina coast is the Coastal Shag Club in Shallotte. This young shag club is thirsty to learn the shag dance and participate in club activities. With a membership of 55 and growing, this club has a monthly party on the third Saturday, with usually around 80 in attendance, at the Shallotte Moose Lodge at 253 Holden Beach Rd. from 7pm-11pm. A line dance lesson is also usually held at 6pm before the dance starts. Cover charge for the monthly parties is $5 for shag club members and $8 for guests. The club members provide appetizers for the party and the Moose Lodge offers good drink prices at the cash bar. The non smoking facility has a 17’ x 29’ parquet  dance floor and plenty of seating.

The club helps their Moose Lodge by supporting Mooseheart as their charity.

The Coastal Shag Club also has the advantage of being only half an hour south of the Society of Brunswick Shaggers, several of whom are also members of Coastal, and being only half an hour north of Ocean Drive. On occasion, Sonny’s at Holden Beach also hosts some of the beach bands for the local shaggers.

With no shortage of good shag DJs in the area and much club enthusiasm for the dance, this friendly club will happily invite you to join them for a fun party.
