On a Sunday night at Rhino’s Live, 11473 Chester Rd, Cincinnati OH, you’ll find a group of dancers that call themselves the Cincinnati Swing & Shag Club. They are a club only in the sense that they all come out on Sunday nights for one reason, and that’s to dance! Walt Knabb and Johnny B play the tunes weekly for the 100 - 150 dancers that come out to Rhino’s. $5 gets you into the club for a free lesson from 7-8pm and open dancing from 8- 11pm. Local dance instructors Jeff, Marilyn and Kellie teach a different type of dancing each month with some instructors teaching beginner lessons and some teaching intermediate. You will find dancers following the steps of west coast swing, shag, salsa, cha-cha and many other dances all to the same tunes that we consider “beach music”. All the “members” here are friendly and willing to ask others to dance. The wood dance floor is large and will hold a record crowd of line dancers on the floor. Rhino’s also offers a limited menu for those that come on the hungry side. There is seating around the dance floor and also seating in the balcony overlooking the dance floor. Come prepared to dance the night away. This crowd doesn’t stop dancing till the music stops.
