On the bank of the Ohio River in the City of Cincinnati, you’ll find a group of dancers enjoying the sounds of Rhythm and Blues, Shag, Beach and Bop music at Jack & Jim’s on the River. Many miles from the Atlantic Coast, this club was formed after a group of friends visited the National Shag Championship in North Myrtle Beach in 1990. There they found the music they’d been looking for. Now the club meets every Tuesday night to dance to the tunes played by DJ Paul Hennessey. A diversity of dance styles from bop and jitterbug to swing and shag can be seen on the floor all being danced to the same beat. Usually 100 to 150 members arrive at Jack & Jim’s on Tuesday nights to dine and dance. While some members are choosing from the full dinner menu, others are already beginning to dance the evening away on the 16’x 40’ wood dance floor. On the first 3 Tuesday nights of the month, free dance lessons are offered for members before the open dancing begins. There is a $5 cover charge for NON MEMBERS to join the fun. The facility is non smoking inside but there is smoking allowed on the back deck.

In addition to the weekly dancing, the Cincinnati Bop Club also sponsors several dances during the year in addition to their well known weekend party - “Move Across the River” held at The Drawbridge in Ft. Mitchell, KY.
