Take a trip to the historic, Spanish moss covered tree lined city of Charleston and you will find the Charleston Shag Club dancing to the SC state dance. The Charleston shag club has the good fortune of having JB Pivots Beach Club to frequent. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, shag lessons are available with open dancing afterwards, and Thursday, Friday and Saturdays are beach, shag nights. Pivots has a 15’ x 45’ wood dance floor built just for shagging. A $5 cover charge gets you in to hear the tunes played by beach/shag favorite DJs. The Charleston Shag Club has their monthly meeting on the first Sunday at the Knights of Pythias. They also have a monthly themed social usually held at JB Pivots with food provided by the club. This club of 232 members also sponsors the Annual Gee Chee Blast party held in October at the Alhambra Hall in Mt Pleasant. This event is well attended by people from many shag clubs. This active club also co-sponsors some events with the Islanders Shag Club and JB Pivots during the year. They also raise funds for Camp Happy Days.
