In the capital city of North Carolina, you will find the Capital Area Shag Club at Loafer’s Beach Club, located at 3914 Atlantic Ave, Raleigh, NC 27604. The home of the Capital Area Shag Club is one of Raleigh‘s top 2 dance clubs. For the shaggers around the capital area, Loafer’s offers shag lessons on Tuesday nights and Thursday nights with all request open dancing on Thursday nights after the lessons and club shag night on Saturdays. DJ Gary Gibson, or other guest DJ’s will play your requests during the evening while you dance on the 25’ x 32’ wooden dance floor. Bands are also brought in on occasion. It is a membership club with members cover charge $3 and guests $5 on Saturdays, Thursdays are free for members. Beer is $3, house drinks are $4.50. There is plenty of seating. TV ’s are conveniently located near the bar. Smoking is allowed inside. No food is served. The Capital Area Shag Club (CASC), which has 115 members, also has a monthly meeting and social on the 1^st Sunday at Loafer’s.

CASC along with Loafer’s Beach Club also hosts several shag contests and events during the year. The Shag Club also hosts the Annual Winter Shag Blast held in February at Nag’s Head.
