Beach music in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC? Absolutely! You’ll find the Brushy Mountain Shag Club dancing once a month at the Elks Lodge, 100 Finley Ave, in North Wilkesboro NC. The Elks Lodge dining room is open from 5:30-8:30 so you can come early and enjoy a nice meal before the shag dancing begins. You can even call ahead to the Elks Lodge and they will have dinner ready for you when you arrive. Chips, dip and other appetizers are also provided at the dance. The lodge has a great 20’ x 25’ dance floor and plenty of seating. The shaggers come in early for a 7pm line dance lesson before the open dancing. You can usually expect around 80-90 dancers here and they always have  someone on the dance floor.  Cover charge is $5 for members and $6 for guests.  Other activities include 50/50 raffle, door prizes, and the traditional birthday dance.  This is a smoke free facility but smoking is allowed at the cash bar. This is a relatively new club that continues to grow in size each year. They also have a good relationship with other sister shag clubs that include  Statesville, Lake Hickory, Boone and Mountain Empire.  You will always find other members from various shag clubs visiting this location.

The members here love to dance.  One member was quoted, “This drinking club has a shagging problem!” And they have definitely brought the beach to the mountains.
