Entering West Virginia through the Southern Gateway of Bluefield, you’ll find one of the newest shag clubs in West Virginia along with a very picturesque drive. The Bluefield Area Shag Society dances at the Elks Lodge nestled in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. This young shag club offers shagging every Monday night at the Elks Lodge from 6:30 -8:30pm. Every other week, they offer a dance lesson to the average crowd of about 30 - 40 members and guests. The 29’ x 40’ parquet floor provides plenty of room for the dancers to practice their shag dancing. There is a bar located downstairs for drinks and smoking. Members of this club, eager to dance whenever they can, also visit some of their sister clubs such as Beckley, Charleston and Roanoke. The Bluefield Area Shag Society also sponsors several larger parties on the weekend throughout the year and is active in community events.
