Above Frederick’s Restaurant on
Princess Anne St, is The Loft, which overlooks Old Towne
Fredericksburg, VA. This is where you can find the Battlefield
Boogie Club taking dance lessons and shagging the evening away every
Tuesday night from 7pm until 10pm. Free lessons are given from 7:30
- 8:15 with a line dance lesson on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. The
Battlefield Boogie Club has several competitive shag dancers that
alternate instructing the lessons. Instructors include
Craig & Heather Jennings, Jim Rose & Brenda Bishop, and Don & Audrey
Borja. The Loft is a quaint, cozy meeting place in the
historic area of Fredericksburg. The old 20’ x25’ hardwood floor
makes it a great place for shag dancing between the band stand and
the DJ booth. Plenty of tables are available for seating. This is a
non-smoking facility. A limited bar menu is available or you can eat
in the restaurant downstairs. Cover is only $3 to help the club
cover the cost of the DJ. Jim Rose and Craig Jennings rotate
the DJ duties. Beer is $4, mixed drinks are $5 and soft drinks are
$1.75. This is a relatively young club but you can expect a regular
crowd of about 40-45 each week. You’ll even find some juniors
hanging out in the Loft.
This clubs big event of the year is the Cannon Ball Summer Blast in
August.
Fredericksburg is a nice area to visit. Take a stroll around the
historic area, have a good meal and a great time shagging with some
new friends.
