** Bass now meets the 4th Sunday each month at Varina Sports Bar in Fuquay Varina.**

Bass Lake Area Shag Society or BASS, is a young shag club with lots of new Shaggers. Just celebrating their first year at the end of 2007, the club has grown to 91 members. They club dances on scheduled Saturdays throughout the year at the Holly Springs Cultural Center, 300 W Ballentine St. (Check their website or Shagtour calendar for dates ). At first you may think you’ve taken a wrong turn onto Ballentine St from NC -55 because you are apparently in a Subdivision, but keep going, you will find the Cultural Center at the end of the road. The Center houses a theatre and a library. BASS has a social meeting at 6:30 and then adjourns for lessons at 7:00. Lessons are taught by John Brooks who also serves as DJ from 7:30 until about 10. The dancing takes place in the theater where the seats are pushed bleacher style to the wall to reveal a 25’ x 30’ black tile dance floor. There is limited seating around the floor. The DJ is set up on the stage. This is a non-smoking facility. A snack bar is located in the lobby where you can purchase coffee, fruit smoothies and other food items. The club also plans to schedule some events at the Varina Sports Bar.

In addition to teaching at the shag club meetings, John and Debbie Brooks also teach lessons through the Community Center.
