The Abbeville Shag Society was formed by a group of shaggers that started meeting in Abbeville at the Side Pocket Lounge in 2006 when the owner Shelly Reid added the lounge to The Rough House . They came together after taking shag lessons from Norman and Dionne Mills and have been meeting on the 4^th Friday each month since. There is no cover charge and everyone is invited to join them. Sam Jones and Wally Hall came up with the group’s logo. The Abbeville Shag Society’s catch phrase is ,”No members, no dues, no meetings”. Shag lessons are also offered by the Mills at The Side Pocket on Tuesday nights at 6pm.
